Expand your Linkedin network, Now !
Linkedin
is world’s largest business-oriented social networking service with over 259
million members in more that 200 countries around the globe. Linkedin connects
world’s professionals to each other.
Your network is the
most valuable part of your Linkedin profile, we all understand the importance
and power of having a large Linkedin Network, the more connections I have the
more people will see my status updates and will receive my messages, this way
opportunities will rush to me and help my business grow or get me hired in a
good organization on a high salary. In
fact recent study shows that Linkedin is especially helpful when it comes to
landing high paying jobs.
We all want to
expand our network as big as possible however, the biggest question is “how ?”.
Its not as easy as it may seem, the biggest obstacle in expanding our network
is “Linkedin restriction policy”. We need to be very careful while making any
efforts to grow our network, the most common reason for a Linkedin account
restriction is sending too many invitations to people you don't know, the fact
is only five "I Don't Know" responses Or “Flagged as spam” may get
your Linkedin account restricted. So, again, the question of the question is
“How can I expand my Linkedin network without getting restricted?”
How to increase connections on Linkedin |
Here is the answer : Start Connecting On Linkedin
Start
your mission by sending requests to your friends to connect on Linkedin.
This
is the best and quickest way to expand your network, start with sending requests
to your friends first and then all the people you know. Check your wallet for
business cards, open your mobile phones contact lists, check your email inboxes
for contacts and email IDs, get more contacts from your outlook account in the
office, open your Facebook and twitters friends and contact lists, this way I
am sure you will easily get at least 300
to 400 contacts. Send request to them all.
Second best
thing you can do is send requests to your friend’s connections (your
second-degree connection’s), check your friend’s connections and here you will
definitely see many people you already know but you were not in touch with
them, send request to them all.
Keep a watch
on who viewed your profile because people who have visited your profile are
most likely to accept your request to connect.
Connect with alumni and ex-coworkers
This
is one of the easiest ways to increase the number of connections. Send requests
to the Alumni/ alumnae as
well as your colleagues/co-workers in the previous organizations.
Write
“Hi XXX, we worked (or studied) together at XXX, good to see you on Linkedin, I
would like to reconnect with you.”
Personalise Your Message to connect
While sending a request, instead of
Linkedins non-personal and boring ‘note’ that goes with each invitation to
connect; Use personalized note like “It was nice meeting you this morning at
the breakfast at Hilton, I’d like to stay connected with you on Linkedin” or
you can write “thanks for the great information you shared in the meeting let’s
stay connected here on Linkedin”. The message doesn’t necessarily have to be a
long and wordy, just write something to help remind them about how you know
each other.
Send requests to the people you don’t know
Linkedin
doesn’t like this, however this is also one of the best ways to get more and
more connections.. you need to be very careful while sending request to the
people you don’t know.
Do not be that guy “I want To Connect With You
On Linkedin”, how would you feel if a stranger walks up to you and say “I want
to become your friend” and walks away?
While
sending requests to unknown professionals be totally transparent and Explain
why you're connecting. Write “Hi XXX, While searching some information i came across your profile, I am
very impressed by the achievements that you have and by the progress in your
career, I'd like to add you to my professional network” Or write “Hi XXX I just came across your LinkedIn profile and noticed that we being in the same profession have a
lot in common and think there may be an opportunity to collaborate at some
point of time in the future, please accept my request to connect.”
Next thing you can do is add your Linkedin profile link in the signature on your emails.
Every
working professional sends 10 to 30 emails on an average every day, when you
put your Linkedin link in your signature you actually send a request to connect
on Linkedin with every single mail you send. 10 requests every day is about 300
requests a month. Good number to be happy.
Print your Linkedin link on your business cards.
I
personally exchange around 200 business cards every month and when I have my
Linkedin link printed on my card, my every business card works like an
“invitation to connect card” for me.
Do Email marketing for yourself
Linkedin
has a CAP of 100 invitations every day (after 100 it asks you to enter a captcha)
and maximum of 3000 invitations can be sent, you can definitely request
Linkedin to grant more invitations however it is very time consuming, so what
should you do ?
Start
doing email marketing for yourself, you can get “N” number of email addresses
on many sites, blogs and forums all you need to do is-
Join groups of Linkedin “open networkers”
Like
you, Everybody wants to grow their network, some smart people have created
groups on many sites and blogs, what they simply do is, start a thread on a
forum saying “Hey I am an open networker and would like to expand my network on
Linkedin if you also want to expand your network then please put your email
address in the comment” this way hundreds of email addresses are shared and
connections are increased in no time.
Make your Linkedin account look good : add more information.
That’s
right, you need to make your Linkedin profile look good, you need to fill in
complete information about yourself, write as much as you can and add more and
more keywords in the description . There are two rezones why you should do
this.
1. The more information you add the more
keywords are added and the more your account becomes visible on Linkedin
2. Second rezone is any visitors that your
profile has, should feel that you are the person he or she should have in his
connection.(trust me this definitely works)
Don’t forget to add profile picture
One
of the biggest mistakes people do is no photo, or putting picture of their dogs, husbands/wives, babies. Never ever do that, Always add a
recently clicked picture of yourself to your profile so people would recognize
you.

are some tips and tricks to expand your Linkedin network easily and quickly.
